Year-End Special: Third Cannes Screenplay List presented by MUBI
Dear community,
For our last newsletter of the year, we are excited to present the Third Cannes Screenplay List nominees and this year in review!
2023 in review:
This year posed challenges to our industry, yet the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes successfully secured crucial rights for creators. At Wscripted, we commend the movement led by writers, actors, and the guilds, as it not only sets an example but will drive positive change in our industry. đ
In 2023, we had notable collaborations, including working with MUBI and an inaugural jury of female filmmakers, who hand-picked the incredible projects on the Third Cannes Screenplay List, including Funa Maduka, Cami Griffin, and Mounia Meddour, whose second feature, HOURIA, has just been nominated for the Cesars 2024! đ
We also participated in Berlinale EFM Startups and joined Comcast NBCUniversalâs accelerator cohort, receiving valuable feedback from Universal and Sky before launching our new technology platform, Wscripted+.
Looking ahead to 2024, Wscripted is committed to expanding opportunities for women, non-binary, and underrepresented writers with the Fourth Cannes Screenplay List (applications opening in January), our new platform Wscripted+, and impactful initiatives, to participate in driving positive change.
We are grateful to all our members for being part of our community. We thank our inaugural jury and annual partner MUBI for supporting the Cannes Screenplay Listâs mission, as well as Comcast NBCUniversal.
Thank you! âš
