Our newsletter is back and we are excited to kick-off the fall season with some great announcements, including our next pitch event, the launch of our exclusive Storyteller Club, project view notifications from producers and profiles on Wscripted's co-founders! Happy reading! 🖐

Pitch a Decision-Maker with Caspian Films!

We are pleased to invite Thembisa Cochrane, Co-Founder and Producer at Caspian Films for our next pitch session on October 11th!

Caspian Films is a London-based production company producing female-led films with unique voices and fresh perspectives for international audiences. Credits includes THE COLOUR ROOM for Sky Cinema and Creative England, US AMONG THE STONES, which premiered at BFI London Film Festival 2019.

Save the Date: October 11th at 11AM ET / 4PM UK

Are invited to apply to pitch:

Women or non-binary storytellers with a feature film with strong casting potential. Preferred genres include drama, literary adaptations, romance and romantic comedy, history, adventure, political and action thrillers, and smart science fiction.

Applications to pitch will open on September 12th and close on September 30th at 6PM ET. Only the 4 selected writers will be notified on Friday October 7th.

Our Club membership includes an online training to give you the tools to analyze scripts and give feedback to support your peers, and a bi-monthly script note meeting with a working group of 3 women, an incredible opportunity to receive feedback from other women to hone your story and gain insights on how decision-makers review projects.

Club members also participate in 1on1 monthly networking zooms to build collaborations.

Meet the Co-Founders!

Our CEO Ellie Jamen, that many of you have met during our Pitch a Decision-Maker events, on zoom or in person at Cannes, is an entertainment entrepreneur. Ellie runs Wscripted's growth strategy, fundraising, public relations and reads a lot of scripts! Outside of Wscripted, Ellie is a yoga-lover and globe-trotter.

Our CTO Marine Haziza, is a community-savvy engineer, committed to building a leading platform that will benefit the growth of female-led cinema. Outside of Wscripted, Marine is a young mom who worked on Parisian movie sets as a boom operator in her 20s.

Summer wasn’t actually a vacation for our team! After attending a 6 months incubator at Paris-based STATION F (picture above 📸), we focused on tech developments (watch the demo below!) and fundraising during the months of July and August. We are now booking meetings to pitch producers during the Toronto International Film Festival from September 8 to 18.

As only 2% of venture capital is allocated to female-led startups, our fundraising efforts will be a long journey. But we will keep going for our dreams: hire a team of experts to build a disruptive brand that will propel women writers' careers. 💡Did you know, our long term vision is to reinvest to fund female-led films? We'll tell you more soon!
