Inaugural Jury Unveiled for the Cannes Screenplay List 🎥

We are so excited to announce the inaugural all female filmmaker jury of the Cannes Screenplay List! âś¨

Unveiled in Variety, the international jury includes filmmakers Mounia Meddour (“Papicha”, “Houria”), Funa Maduka (“Waiting for Hassana”), and Camille Griffin (“The Silent Night”).

Mounia Meddour, internationally acclaimed for her film “Papicha” in 2019, has won the hearts of the French audience again with the release of her new film “Houria”, a tale of sorority about a dancer’s dream to join the Algerian National Ballet. The film stars Lyna Khoudri (“Papicha”, “The French Dispatch”), and debuted in French theatres on March 15.

Other jurors include Nigerian filmmaker Funa Maduka, former Head of International Original Films at Netflix, known for her documentary "Waiting for Hassana," who was recently a jury member at Sundance 2023 in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition; and British filmmaker Camille Griffin, known for her horror drama "The Silent Night," starring Keira Knightley, Matthew Goode, Lily Rose Depp, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Wscripted’s Third Cannes Screenplay List is presented in collaboration with our annual partner MUBI, to promote outstanding feature scripts by women and non-binary storytellers during the 2023 Cannes Film Market.

The deadline is extended to April 7 (final deadline).
