TIFF is just around the corner!
While the Venice Film Festival is buzzing, the Toronto International Film Festival is just around the corner β and Wscripted's team will be attending!
TIFF is an amazing film festival for women filmmakers, and also a market where industry executives, producers, filmmakers meet to sale projects and build collaborations.
We made a shortlist of TIFF's must-see and world premieres directed by women this year:
Our friends at Babe Nation Films' ALICE, DARLING, starring Anna Kendricks, directed by Mary Nighy.
CATHERINE CALLED BIRDY by Lena Dunham (the βGirlsβ creator), starring βGame of Thronesβ breakout star Bella Ramsey.
Apple TV and A24 produced's CAUSEWAY, directed by Lila Neugebauer, starring Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence.
Netflix's THE SWIMMERS, by Egyptian director Sally El Hosaini, acclaimed for her first feature My Brother the Devil in 2012. A pick from TIFF's CEO Cameron Bailey.
PRISONER'S DAUGHTER, by Thirteen and Twilight's director Catherine Hardwicke, starring Kate Beckinsale and Brian Cox (we are obsessed with Succession!)
WOMEN TALKING by Sarah Polley, produced by Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment, starring Frances McDormand, Rooney Mara, Claire Foy and Jessie Buckley.
THE WOMAN KING by Gina Prince-Bythewood, featuring thrilling performances from Oscar winner Viola Davis.
